A quick guide on uploading images to the forum. The guide has been created for Windows based systems. The only difference if your using a mac is you'll browse the drive using your finder.... So it will look a little different.

For the technophobes among you there is no need to worry. This is nice and easy.

Step One

When creating or replying to a post you want to add an image too click on the icon circled above.
Step Two

Ignore everything on the right for now and click the Browse button.

Step Three

Browse your hard drive for the image you want to upload and click it once to select it. I have selected hey_good_lookin.jpg. I think you'll agree this is a fitting name when you see the pic.

Now click Open.
Step Four

This is the bit that has tripped a few people up. The upload button has to be clicked. Depending on the size of the file you might see this window pop up. If your uploading a large file it will happily count down until the file is on the server. If its a smaller file you might only see it flash up and disappear again.

You don't need to click anything here. It will just disappear when it's done. See I told you this was easy.
Step Five
See this. This is Alt text this is. Love you :) x
You will now see a window similar to the image above. At the left hand side you will see the image you just uploaded listed, for me its called hey_good_lookin.jpg. Every file you upload will appear in this window. This means that you can use the same image in the future without having to upload it again. Just select it from the list.

There are some options to the right hand side above your image preview, these are -
Image URL: This is the address of your newly uploaded file. I'd leave this one alone Smile

Alt Text:
Alt text is the text that will appear when the mouse pointer is moved over an image. Try putting your mouse over the image above and don't move it for a few seconds. This is Alt text is.

Height & Width:
These allow you to change the the display size of your image only. If you upload a 4Mb image that takes 30 seconds to appear on the page, and shrink it with the height and width settings even though it appears half the size on screen it will still be 4Mbs in size and will still take 30 seconds to appear on screen.

If you know how to shrink images on your PC I'd recommend you do this. If you don't know how then just fire up the big files Smile
When you have changed everything you want to change click the OK button.

Step Six
TA DA.... You have done it.

Your image will appear in your post. You can add and format text as you normally would. Exciting stuff this technology.

Any questions private message me.
